Apache Friends is a nonprofit organization that promotes the Apache Web server and related technologies like MySQL, PHP and Perl.

Main focus of Apache Friends is XAMPP, a non-commercial AMPP (Apache MySQL, PHP, Perl) package for Linux, Solaris, Mac OS X and Windows.

The Apache Software Foundation (ASF) is a non-profit corporation to support Apache software projects, including the Apache HTTP Server. The ASF was formed from the Apache Group and incorporated in Delaware, USA, in June, 1999.

Horde is both an open source software project and an application framework written in PHP.

The application framework is currently the basis for about 45 applications written by developers from around the world, including such well know web applications as the webmail client IMP and the repository viewer Chora.

PEAR (the "PHP Extension and Application Repository") is a collection of high quality PHP components. In a framework-like infrastructure PEAR provides generic packages of object oriented PHP code for nearly every imaginable purpose.

PHP, which stands for "PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor" is a widely-used Open Source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for Web development and can be embedded into HTML.

phpMyAdmin is a tool written in PHP intended to handle the administration of MySQL over the Web.
